Invest in MI Kids: Team West

A citizens’ ballot initiative to raise revenue for our schools.

Have you heard about the proposed citizen’s ballot initiative creating a constitutional amendment to raise revenue for the Michigan School Aid Fund? As you know, Michigan schools are severely underfunded, and Lansing has shown they aren’t willing to solve the problem. We must fix this ourselves. Register now to help with signature collection. Even if you can only collect from your nearest and dearest, WE NEED YOU!

For the past year, we’ve been working with a coalition of Public Education Advocates on a ballot initiative to raise funds for Michigan schools - WITHOUT POLITICIANS. The ballot initiative will be called “Invest in MI Kids” and is at the Board of State Canvassers for approval at their June meeting. By adding a surcharge on only the wealthiest Michiganders’ income taxes, the initiative will raise over $1B per year going directly to the School Aid Fund.

It’s finally time for us to organize signature collectors, and we’d love for you to join us! There’s no pressure on the number of signatures you need to get - each person will set their own goal, whether it’s 5 or 500. We need 700,000 statewide, so every bit helps.

We will be able to start collecting signatures in July. Getting set up to gather signatures is easy with only a 10-minute online training/quiz that explains what to do - essentially just holding a ballot paper while people sign. LET’S GO! Register here.
